Zero Flame Plywood

The burning rate test is the measure of the time taken by the plywood to reduce from 30 percent to 70 percent of the weight. In simple terms, it’s an estimation of how quickly it would catch fire and burn. Let’s understand this by comparing it with a substance like liquid propellant; it catches fire and burns completely in just a few seconds, generating a huge amount of energy. In comparison, this plywood takes more than 20 minutes to char down to two-third of its mass.

Flame penetration or spread tests measure the tendency of a flame to spread over a surface in a real fire scenario. With a flame penetration potential of 2.5 minutes/mm of thickness, the chemicals prolong the penetration time of a 19 mm thick plywood to at least 45 minutes. This process arrests the rapid and erratic spread of the fire, forming a chemical barrier for the flame. Thus, this plywood not only meets up with the ISO standard requirements with flying colors but also establishes a benchmark in safety. What’s more, there is no smell and smoke formation during flame penetration, thereby, removing the danger from poisonous gasses building up.
