Zero Flame Plywood
Wherever there is a spark, there is a fire; but not in the case of LTW + ZERO FLAME plywood. Developed after meticulous research, it does not burst into flame on coming in contact with fire. It just turns into ash, thereby saving your interior from a blazing disaster. The fire-resistant capability of the ply is derived from the fire-retardant chemicals present in it; enabling it to slow down the spread of excessive heat, hot gasses or flames according to the parameters laid down by IS:5509 requirements. Thus, the fire is prevented from spreading; providing enough time to stop it before it can build up.
Thinking beyond the boundaries, the fire-retardant chemicals are a part of Sonear’s innovation; a journey in pursuit of continuous evolution to bring out a product that truly makes a difference. While confirming perfectly with the ISO standards, these chemicals impart the plywood with the capabilities of low flammability and low rate of burning with a high penetration time. The plywood is passed through rigorous tests to ensure the efficiency of these capabilities. Let’s look at some of these parameters to understand the rigor in meeting our commitments and the sincerity in adhering to the standards
The burning rate test is the measure of the time taken by the plywood to reduce from 30 percent to 70 percent of the weight. In simple terms, it’s an estimation of how quickly it would catch fire and burn. Let’s understand this by comparing it with a substance like liquid propellant; it catches fire and burns completely in just a few seconds, generating a huge amount of energy. In comparison, this plywood takes more than 20 minutes to char down to two-third of its mass.
Flame penetration or spread tests measure the tendency of a flame to spread over a surface in a real fire scenario. With a flame penetration potential of 2.5 minutes/mm of thickness, the chemicals prolong the penetration time of a 19 mm thick plywood to at least 45 minutes. This process arrests the rapid and erratic spread of the fire, forming a chemical barrier for the flame. Thus, this plywood not only meets up with the ISO standard requirements with flying colors but also establishes a benchmark in safety. What’s more, there is no smell and smoke formation during flame penetration, thereby, removing the danger from poisonous gasses building up.
Along with zero-fire property, these chemicals also empower the plywood with resistance to boiling water. So, the plywood does not distort or spoil on scalding. In addition, they also impart the plywood with borer, termite and fungus resistant capabilities. Ideal material for kitchens and all such places prone to fire, wood pests, and bowling water hazards, you take home an ideal protector of your interior when you purchase this plywood.
